The short version
Privacy should be inspectable.
This policy covers peekling.com, its documentation, demonstrations, and playground. The site is operated by Prajwal S. Venkateshmurthy, Peekling's creator, author and maintainer.
What is handled
Only the information needed to deliver the site and its controls.
Ordinary web requests
When you visit, your browser sends information that is normally required to load a website. This may include your IP address, requested URL, browser and device details, request headers, and timestamps. Cloudflare currently delivers and protects peekling.com, so it may process network and security information for those purposes.
GitHub star count
The navigation requests the current star count for the Peekling engine from GitHub's public API. That request sends ordinary network information to GitHub. The returned count is cached in your browser for up to 15 minutes.
Website analytics
The website uses PostHog to measure page visits, interactions, page exits, heatmaps, performance, browser errors, and selected calls to action. It can also record a session replay so the team can understand where the site is clear or confusing.
PostHog creates a random browser identifier to connect events within and across visits. Peekling does not identify you or create a person profile. Autocaptured events mask element text and attributes. Session replay masks every input and all live playground text. Query strings and fragments are removed from event, replay, and network URLs before they leave the browser. Surveys and console-log recording remain off.
Browser preferences
The site can remember your selected accent, character, playground panel width, and character visibility preference. These values are stored in local or session storage in your browser. They are not submitted to a Peekling account or profile.
Purpose
Requests support delivery, security, and the features you choose.
- Deliver the pages, fonts, character assets, and runtime files.
- Protect the site from abuse and keep requests reliable.
- Show the current public GitHub star count.
- Restore functional choices on your next visit.
- Understand visits, interactions, performance, errors, and usability.
- Diagnose a technical problem when necessary.
Who receives requests
Three providers support the current public site.
Cloudflare
Cloudflare provides site delivery, network routing, and security. Its handling of information is described in the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
GitHub
GitHub supplies the public repository star count and hosts project repositories. Its handling of information is described in the GitHub Privacy Statement.
PostHog
PostHog receives the website measurement events described above. Its handling of information is described in the PostHog Privacy Notice.
Links to npm, jsDelivr, Discord, X, GitHub, or other websites take you to a service with its own privacy practices. Peekling does not sell personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
How long it remains
Browser settings remain under your control.
The GitHub star count cache expires after 15 minutes. Session preferences expire when the browser session ends. Other local preferences remain until you change them or clear site data in your browser. Cloudflare, GitHub, and PostHog apply their own retention settings to information they process.
Your controls
You can reset the site without an account.
- Clear local and session storage for peekling.com in your browser.
- Use the site controls to change a character, accent, or visibility.
- Block the GitHub API request with browser privacy tools. The star count may then use its safe fallback.
- Follow the provider links above to exercise rights with a provider.
Depending on where you live, privacy law may give you rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing. Because this site has no user accounts and PostHog person profiles are disabled, Peekling does not maintain a visitor account or analytics person profile.
Young visitors
The site is designed for a general audience.
Peekling is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided personal information may email support@peekling.com.
